Diversity & Inclusion Student Leader Diversity Training 2009

As of Winter Quarter 2009, student leaders in the colleges at the University of California Santa Cruz will receive comparable training in concepts of social equity, cultural diversity, inclusion, power, and privilege. The Diversity and Inclusion Program within College and University Housing Services (CUHS) is responsible for the cultural diversity training of all UCSC staff. In addition, the coordinator (DIPC) for the program will conduct diversity training for the student leaders employed at all colleges. Though these trainings will be similar between the colleges, they will not be the same, owing to a range of needs, learning styles, and core courses within each college. All trainings will include the same definitions of terms, concepts, and frameworks, offering a common language within which to discuss and exchange ideas. Methods, topics, and critiques of comprehension and knowledge will vary according to needs expressed by residential life administrators. ...read more
