Campus Housing Office
The Campus Housing Office is responsible for the application and contract records for all students living in college residence halls and apartments, Graduate Student Housing, The Village, UCSC Inn, and University Town Center (UTC). Staff are available to advise students about room and board billing, payment plans, and contractual responsibilities. Students living in college residence halls select a meal plan as part of their housing contract. All other students, whether living on or off campus, may purchase meal plans or flexi-dollars at this office.
Actual room assignments, key distribution, and special-option waiting lists are handled by the individual college offices of Residential Life/Housing.

Campus Orientation
Orientation is designed to welcome new students and their families to the University, and to introduce opportunities for student academic and personal success available at UCSC. While at Orientation, you will have the opportunity to select and enroll in f all quarter 2002 classes. You will receive academic advising to assist you to prepare academically for the coming year. You will also have the opportunity to take placement examinations, tour the campus, learn to access the many services and resources available, and meet with students, faculty, and staff who will assist in your academic and personal endeavors.

Career Center
The Career Center provides comprehensive career services to current students and alumni. It is a one-stop resource, providing a meaningful link between education and the world of work. From part-time employment and internships to graduate school or professional employment, and special events such as the Multicultural Career Conference and the Student Employment Recognitions Awards Ceremony, the center is here to guide students to career success. Services include career advising, part-time jobs, internships, career positions, on-campus corporate recruiting, resource library, computer laboratory and databases, graduate school services, workshops, and special events.

The Catalog provides basic information about UC Santa Cruz including admissions and financial information, a complete list of academic programs and concentrations, research programs and facilities, the residential colloeges and student life, and a list of all courses offered at the University.
Chicano Latino Student Life Resource Center
The Chicano Latino Student Life Resource Center, El Centro, offers programs and activities to enhance your academic success, intellectual growth, research skills, leadership development, opportunities for community service, and preparation for graduate school. Examples of programs offered through the Center include on-line research workshops, Chicana Latina Pipeline Project, Chicano Latino Men’s Support Group (Los Compas), a senior thesis support group, and community service internships.
Child Care Services
Child Care Services offers several campus child care programs for children of students, faculty, and staff. Enrollment is limited and early application is encouraged since most programs have waiting lists. Free or reduced rates are available to low-income students who qualify.
All programs reflect the belief that the best child care occurs in nurturing, homelike environments that are safe and developmentally appropriate. The programs stress the importance of meeting children’s needs in all areas of development: social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative. The curriculum emphasizes play as a learning process and provides environments that are rich and challenging.
The following programs are available:
- The Infant Toddler Center provides care for infants and toddlers ages 3–36 months.
- The Granary Child Development Center provides care for preschool children ages 2–4 years.
- The Children’s Center provides care for prekindergarten children ages 4–6 and after-school care for children in kindergarten.
- The School Age Center is an after-school recreation program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade during the academic year.
College Eight
The theme, "Environment and Community," embodies College Eight’s concern for environmental issues within a social, political, scientific and humanistic context.
Residence halls are arranged in four quads, each with two buildings and about 100 residents.
Halls are coeducational with the exception of a women’s hall; all halls are multicultural in theme.
The apartments are reserved for continuing and upper-division students.
College Nine
College Nine's theme, International and Global Perspectives, explores areas of cultural diversity, human rights, global economics, immigration, regional conflicts, and ecological degradation. Opportunities for undergraduate research, education abroad, experiential learning, and student leadership are emphasized.
Three residence halls house a total of 400 students in shared and single-occupancy rooms.
Apartments, located in a redwood grove behind the academic buildings, are available to transfer and continuing students.
The International Living Center is located in the Colleges Nine/Ten Apartments.
All housing is smoke free.
College Ten
College Ten focuses on issues of social justice and community. Through academic and extracurricular activities, students will explore areas of poverty, discrimination, and human rights. Community service, undergraduate research, and student leadership are emphasized. The academic programs are administered through the Social Sciences Division.

Apartments, shared with College Nine, are available to transfer and continuing students.
All housing is smoke free.
Colleges
The undergraduate residential colleges are at the heart of the UC Santa Cruz experience. With convenient access to academic, recreational, dining, and social facilities and student services, about 45 percent of single undergraduate students live in college residence halls and apartments.

The Colleges & University Housing Services (CUHS)
The Colleges & University Housing Services is one the three major clusters of Student Affairs whose mission is to "create, implement and maintain a comprehensive array of programs, services, and facilities through a network of campus communities which collaborate to advance UCSC’s educational, research, and public service mission."
Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor, this cluster encomasses a wide range of programs and services including the Colleges, Campus Housing, Dining Services, and Child Care Services.

Community Rentals Office
To assist students, the Community Rentals Office (CRO) maintains current rental listings and names of students who want to share living accommodations. Currently enrolled students can access the listings via the CRO web site and do not pay a fee to access services. Concurrent Enrollment students, Summer Session students, and alumni pay a small user fee to access listings, and can visit the Community Rentals Office to be verified and receive a temporary search pass. All users should be sure to bring some form of picture identification such as a driver’s license or passport.
Other services provided include renters’ workshops, rental forms, other resource information, and basic advising about tenants’ rights and responsibilities. You are encouraged to visit the office and learn about the resources available to you.

Conference Services
Conference Services provides conference management services including arrangement of facilities, dining and transportation needs, and logistical services such as registration and materials preparation.
Some of the programs they have hosted include the Center for Talented Youth, the United Spirit Association, The Dickens Project and the UC College Prep Initiative.
Counseling and Psychological Services
Psychological counseling services are available at each college and at the Counseling and Psychological Services central office. Counseling psychologists have extensive experience in helping students clarify their sense of direction, set realistic goals, and better understand their personal problems.
Students can meet with a counseling psychologist individually or they can join one of the numerous counseling groups that are offered throughout the year. A behavioral health/stress reduction clinic is also available. The goal of both individual and group counseling is to facilitate effective functioning during a student’s stay at UCSC. All of the information you communicate to a counseling psychologist is confidential in accordance with state laws.

Cowell College
Cowell College was the founding college of UC Santa Cruz. Its motto, The Pursuit of Truth in the Company of Friends, represents its twin commitment to academic endeavor and supportive community. The college, home to the Language Program, has faculty from all disciplines, with special strengths in pre- and early modern studies in literature, history, philosophy, and classics.
Seven residence halls each house 40 to 70 students in single, double, triple, and quadruple rooms.
“Theme” areas include the multicultural house, smoke-free halls, women’s halls, and the French language house.
Residential programs focus on community living, celebrating diversity, recreational activities, and other topics important to students’ lives.
Crown College
Crown College's theme, Science, Technology and Society, explores the relationship of science and technology with the world around us. This includes both the negative impact of some technologies on our environment and social institutions, as well as technology's use as a tool to improve our society. The Education and Science Communication Programs are housed in the college.
Eight residence halls each house about 60 students.
Nonsmoking and firstyear student buildings are available.
Theme floors include an all-female floor and the Science Technology House, which supports the science learning community.
Apartments are reserved for students after the first year or those 21 and older.
