Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex Resource Center, Lionel Cantú
The Lionel Cantú GLBTI Resource Center provides informational, educational, and social support to students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the community on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues. The center, located in a beautiful, spacious redwood building behind Crown and Merrill Colleges, is home to a host of exciting programs, several student organizations, and a library offering contemporary queer titles and a large collection of magazines. Student art shows are exhibited in the center's GALA Gallery.The center has a cozy lounge, computers with Internet access, videos to view, plenty of study space, and a full kitchen. Safer sex information and supplies are on hand.
The center also offers referral to campus and community resources, publishes a weekly calendar of campus and community GLBTI events, and offers several annual events celebrating National Coming Out Day and National Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans History Month.
Graduate Student Housing
Graduate Student Housing is a small community housing just 82 students, and is home to a very diverse population, including students from all over the United States as well as many foreign countries. The intimate community offers residents the opportunity to meet students much like themselves as well as some from very different backgrounds.
The apartments are located at the edge of the redwood forest which comprises more than three quarters of UCSC's two thousand acres.
