The Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) provide a variety of academic and personal support programs designed to promote the retention, academic success, and graduation of students from low-income and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. EOP programs and services are designed to ensure that students successfully complete their undergraduate education and acquire the skills that will prepare them for future careers and graduate or professional school opportunities.
These support services include the Summer Bridge Program, orientation activities, academic advising and personal counseling, tutorial assistance, study-skill development, peer advising, pre-graduate programs, and social and cultural programs.

Services for Transfer and Re-Entry Students (STARS) offers a broad range of personal and academic support services for all transfer and re-entry students, student parents, and military veterans.
These services include admissions information, orientations for new students, academic seminars and study-skills workshops, tutorial services, informal academic advising, drop-in assistance, social, recreational, and cultural programs, scholarships, newsletters, and study centers with computer workstations.
STARS also coordinates the Lifelong Learners program, a UC & community organization dedicated to continuing education.

UC Santa Cruz is committed to making all programs, services, and activities accessible to students with disabilities. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) offers services that help meet the needs of students with disabilities and are confidential and free of charge.
These services include counseling and advising, mobility services, parking accommodations, assistance with registration and enrollment, testing accommodations, adaptive equipment loans, reader, notetaker, and interpreter services, and referrals.

All the colleges provide academic advising (e.g. Merrill College) and academic and general campus orientations to help you plan your academic program. In addition, each college has academic preceptors (e.g. Porter College) who can provide advice on academic matters. Psychological and personal counseling is also available in each college, and many colleges have well-developed peer advising and tutoring.
Learning Support Services (LSS) offers 2 major programs to all UCSC undergraduate students, Modified Supplemental Instruction (MSI) and Tutoring. Modified Supplemental Instruction (MSI), peer guided learning groups are attached to selected lower and upper division courses. Content related tutoring is available in all subject areas, as is extensive writing tutoring.
